July 10-16, 2011

Sunday-Up and around 6 AM.  Dick and I took a short walk with Anya.  Then had breakfast and they headed home.

Not much get up and go, so just did chores and spent time on the porch.  Watched some TV and then in the afternoon we did some work in the backroom.  Dinner then more porch time until bed.

Monday-Up and out by 6:30 AM with a two mile walk with Anya.  Picked peas, weeded two rows, put the bucklings outside for the first time, pruned some Wine Cup plants that were taking over their corner of the garden, and had breakfast of cinnamon rolls and bacon.  Thunder storms rolling through, finally got some rain!

No spinning today. Did some phone calls for appointments, chickens go in two weeks and I have my yearly check up on the books.

Did a little work in backroom.  Greg did a lot of work in the backroom.

In bed by 10:30!

Tuesday-Anya and I got two miles in, then breakfast, chores and sewing.  Wedding dress alterations are DONE.  Only the flower girls dresses left.

Greg worked on east side of backroom.  Everything coming along fine, almost got it done.

Dinner, chores and watched TV then bed.

Wednesday-Woke at 6 AM even though I didn't get to sleep until after one, had chocolate during the day...bad caffeine!  Instead of walking I did the dishes.  Need the scullery ready for baking tomorrow.

Happy Anniversary to Us.  Today is our 26th Wedding anniversary.  We are doing nothing special, maybe will come up with something later.

Greg brought home KFC so I don't have to cook at all today.  He ran my Meals route, so I could work on the dresses.  Got one dress almost done.  Pattern had some issues, I believe there were some misprints, but once I figured them out I was okay.

Dinner of leftover KFC, chores and TV.

Thursday-Up at 5:30 AM finished the Flower Girl dresses, done and done!

Daniella arrived this morning for a couple of days.  She needs to begin to get things ready for Fair.  Practice with Skippy, get things together, and just have some farm time.

We managed to make some Cottage Cheese from the morning milk as well as we started the bread for market.  Greg worked in the backroom, Daniella weeded her garden and got her beans planted, then we watered the vegetable garden and spent the rest of the night on the porch.

Friday-Up and on the road by 6:15 AM for another two miles with Anya.  When I first opened the back door there was a beautiful double rainbow over the barn.  Not raining here, but I could see that it was raining higher up to make the rainbow.

Breakfast, chores, and bread making.  Daniella also made two loaves of regular white bread, one for her Daddy. She and I walked the bucklings in their pens, need to do this so that when they are big, we can walk them when we need to.

At 5 PM we walked Skippy down to the neighbor's house for a 4H Goat Practice, we were home by 6:15 PM.  Chris came to pick up Daniella after that.  Greg and I had a quick dinner, then chores, and more porch time.  Bread was rising and baking between everything all day.

Saturday-I woke at 5:45 AM, so I took a quick bath and got packed for market.  13 vendors and plenty of lookers, but not much sold.  Home, lunch, and chores.  Share customer came for a pick up.  Then Ashley and Katherine came for a final fitting.  Jennifer (Mom) came to have a trial run on dressing the bride and it was decided how to bustle the dress for the reception.  I have two little jacket to make for the flower girls now.  Jennifer and I  had a nice visit after the girls left.  Pizza and porch sitting was the remainder of the evening.

Another week in the books!

The Week of the Fourth!

Wanted a new routine so trying it out this week.  Up a bit after 6 AM and was walking by 6:30 AM.  Anya and I did two miles at a brisk pace.  Spent some time reading the "Weekly" on the porch, did up the dishes, and started some dough for cinnamon rolls.  Just got the recipe from a new friend/vendor at the market.  She sold them along with some of her other goodies.  They were wonderful!

And some to freeze.

Here they are ready for our snack.

I had also started some Cottage Cheese from the morning milk and that was finished up after I raked the hay we had cut yesterday.  By late afternoon the hay was ready to bale, super hot and windy day and it was only grass, so it didn't take any time to dry!  We got 20 bales, only a tiny field really.

Supper was tuna salad in pita bread, spinach from the garden, cottage cheese and yogurt.  Greg had a cinnamon roll for dessert then the four of us, Greg, Isabeau, Anya and I, took a two mile walk.  That makes four miles today for Anya and I!

Chores then porch time!

Monday-HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!  Another early morning walk and then time to catch up on the blog.  I was just about to head out to do chores, when some friends stopped by and they ended up staying until afternoon!  Chores were LATE, but we had a good visit.

Then another surprise...Jeremiah and the kids were on their way here to spend some of the day with us.  Jenn and Pat were also coming to celebrate the 4th!  Had a great time!  Played a game called "Cards against Humanity" haven't laughed that hard in a very long time!  Great party game, though it is adults only!

Everyone left before dark, so Greg and I watched the fireworks from the front porch.  Good show some where up to the north of us, lasted almost an hour!

Tuesday-Another two miles for Anya and I.  Made some appointments for the broilers and my yearly check up.  Did some farm record keeping and then sat on the porch.  Weather is just toooooo darned hot!

Greg started putting up some OSB in the backroom, I helped by holding a couple of sheets.  I ran into the elevator to pick up feeds, I was almost too late!  I was the very last order of the day.  Needed to go to the credit union, but they were already closed.

Too hot to cook so we had salads for supper.  Then did my TV time.

Wednesday-No walk this morning didn't get up until after 7AM, didn't  sleep good.  No knitting group today either, need to work on wedding clothes.  Ran the meals after chores, went to credit union and home.  Went right to work.  Finished shortening the slip, four layers worth!

Had lunch, put up another sheet of OSB and then went to the Swanson to do a little computer repair.  All is well now.

Back home, made dinner had our first green pepper, chores and watered the vegetable garden.  Porch sitting the rest of the time.

Thursday-I was in the barn by 7:05 AM getting chores done early so we could take Anya to the Vet to be nurtured and then we were off to go rummage saleing in Elsie.  It is the yearly city wide sale day!  Got a few things but not much.  We were done by noon, so we went to lunch at the Hitching Post in St. Johns.  Home and some down time, waiting for the Vet to call to pick up Anya.  Got the call around 4:00 PM, she's home and feeling a bit out of it, but doing fine.

Greg did some painting in the backroom and I spent sometime on the computer.

Dawn called around 5:00 PM to ask if they could borrow our truck.  They had bought hay at auction and were bringing it home when the brakes went out on their truck.  All is well, but they still have more hay to get home.

I have two batches of salt rising starter going, I hope to make 10 loaves of salt and 5 of sourdough for market this week.  By 1:00 AM the first pans of salt rising were done.

Friday-Things almost normal, up around 7:00 AM.  Anya feeling much more like herself.  More bread to make today, hope there are enough hours in the day to get it all baked and ready for tomorrow.

Started more sourdough, mowed lawn, Greg doing more painting, then set more bread to rise.

Both breads took forever to rise, I ended up baking the last salt rising at 5:00 AM on market morning!

Saturday-Bread in oven by 5:20 AM.  They need to cool before I bag them up!  Washed a few dishes, put a salad together for later at Daniella's Fiesta and then packed the truck, bagged bread and left for market.

Busy market today, 10 vendors.  Sold seven loaves of salt rising and three sourdough along with 10 dozen eggs.

Home, chores, clean up and then head to the party.  Big group, lots of kids, fun and food.  All my kids were there...mark that on the calendar!

Came home around 9:00 PM with house guests...my Brother and his wife.  We sat on the porch until bedtime.

Another week in the books!  Onward and Upwards.

Another round of busy...

Sunday-Up early and by 6:15 AM I was in the tub for a long soak, then chores.  Breakfast, mowed lawn, cleaned up and went to Jenn's to check on Harley, her cat.  Then to Bushon's for a dress fitting.  Back home to visit with Miles and Melissa.  Pizza for supper, chores and watched a recorded show about rebuilding the "Titanic" then to bed.

Monday-Rise and shine, dogs walked, email checked, food, and chores. Mowed the weeds over the raspberries and strawberries.  I weeded the garden, and put up another sheet of ceiling panelling, cleaned up, grabed a snack and porch sat while waiting for Judy and Sandy.  Had a good two  hour visit and spinning!

Leftover pizza for supper with salad made with beet greens from thinning the garden.

Look what the milk bottles grew into...Pepper plants!

Looking much better!

Tuesday-By 7AM I had dressed, walked the dogs, pulled some weeds, then washed dishes and got cereal out for breakfast.  Took time to  make blog notes while Greg watched TV.  Chores done then waiting for Share customer to come by to pick up her share.

Had most of the garden tilled by the time my customer arrived.

Finally got the ceiling done!

Relaxed for a bit and then finished up one of the wedding dresses.

Dinner and TV time.

Wednesday-Got a picture of Greg holding Anya in the rocker at five months:
My little puppy!

Did the usual stuff...chores, breakfast, shower, Meals and knitters.  On the way back home two cars of knitters followed me to the greenhouse on Hollister Road.  Nice flowers.  I bought a Petunia they called Black Raspberries, it was really different.

Went to Jenn's to check on Harley again.  Had dinner, chores and relaxed for a bit.  Then got some sourdough and salt rising starters made for tomorrow.

Thursday-Computer time then breakfast and started the breads.  Did chores and then while sourdough was rising went to Home Depot to pick up some lumber and OSB for more projects around here.  We had lunch while we were out.

Home and some time to porch sit.  Then we got the flag pole back up.  First cement didn't set so pole started to lean.  Greg dug it all out and we redid it.

Got the sourdough into the bread pans to rise again and made a strawberry rubarb custard pie.  Greg did the dishes.

Had planned to  have a campfire, but because of a number of phone calls we just enjoyed the porch again.

A view from the porch.

Friday-Spent two hours on the computer, bought some embroidery designs on sale...sure hope I can find time to play with them REALLY soon!

After chores and our breakfast of Ebelskivers, we cleaned out the buck pen to make it ready to put the two bucklings-Angus a Boer and Isaiah a Toggenburg some room to run and play.

Isaiah arrived around 4:30PM and we took the two boys down to the new buck pen.  Angus is very happy, he has a playmate now!

Saturday-Farmer's Market was quite busy for a holiday weekend.  Eleven vendors were set up.  After market and chores Greg mowed hay in the the "riding arena" and then we had lunch.  I was awful tired and it was terrible hot so I didn't do much other then nap on the porch.  Ashley came by to pick up her wedding shoes.  We visited a bit.  I watched some TV, Greg made pizza, I did chores and then spent the evening on the porch.

And here we are another week has started...Onward and Upward!
