A Day Late...

A day late, but good reason.  Away at a show this weekend and was tired by the time I got home on Sunday.

Sunday, June 12-Hay dried all day.  Jenn and Pat came by with their new truck and picked up the pop up camper.  I worked on Jere's shirts.  I also clipped two goats.

Monday-Cleaned up the house first thing.  Daniella arrived at about 8 AM so she helped with morning chores.  Then she planted her cabbage plants and her "Three Sisters" garden.

Judy was my only spinning lady so just for something different, we dyed some of her roving in the oven.  It turned out looking really cool.  Excited to see what it will look like spun up.

Around four o'clock I raked the hay.  Greg and Daniella saw a deer out back while I was raking.  Took Daniella on a short tractor ride.  Then we dug a hole and put a post in for a new bird feeder I got at last weeks auction.

While Greg and Daniella were looking for her long sleeved shirt, outside they  saw the same deer.

Tuesday-Daniella was here overnight.  We had Honey and Buttermilk Ebelskivers for breakfast.  After morning chores Daniella clipped her goat Skippy.  Ran Daniella's Father's Day paper "My Daddy is my Hero..." into the newspaper so it will be in the Father's Day issue of the Weekly.

Then we started baling the hay.  After a couple of breakdowns and about three hours we had it done.  Greg got most of the bales in the barn, then dinner and chores and TV time.

Wednesday-Daniella here.  Morning chores while Greg got the rest of the bales in the barn.  Rain is predicted for this afternoon.

Daniella made a birthday card for her friend Danielle.  Greg ran my Meals route so I could  get Jere's shirts done.

While Greg was out he ran into St. Johns to pick up a tire for the second baler and brought home Burger King for lunch.  Didn't get as much done in the afternoon as I would  have liked, but got some stuff ready for the show.  Tried patching a air mattress for the trailer, hope it holds air.

Chris picked up Daniella around 4:30 PM and I spent the rest of the evening working on another embroidery design, this one for Jenn.

Thursday-Raining Cats and Dogs this morning.  Our dogs didn't want to go out it was raining so hard.  We needed a good rain.  Daniella again this morning, did dishes and then more show preparations.

Clipped two more goats in the morning.  Went to town to pick up a few things and mail out the shirts had another fast food lunch.

We hooked up the trailer and started loading it for the weekend.

Baked a Carrot Cake for the potluck at the show.  Roasted a chicken for dinner.

Went out to the barn for chores and clipped the last four goats, didn't come in until after 10:30 PM!

Friday-Plenty of preparations to do as well as the usual stuff.

On top of everything else, had to put Callie down.  She has been doing poorly this whole week, but this morning she was just about all in.  She is getting old (10 plus years) and this week I think she just gave up.  I was hoping not to have to do it, but she was so weak and in such distress we just had to.  She is buried next to Rufus by the side garden.  I will miss you Callie you were a good kitty!

Around 2:00, Dave White came and dropped off the cargo he had asked me to deliver to the show.  A whole bunch of frozen hot dogs and one Nigerian Dwarf doeling that was being raffled off.  We were ready to leave after we  had our lunch.

We arrived safe and sound at the Barry County Exposition Center at about 5:00 PM.  Unloaded our passengers and cargo and then set up our home for the weekend.  Bedtime was about 10:00PM.

Saturday-Quick breakfast, fed and watered the goats and then began the waiting.  Jenn got there earlier then I had expected.  She was there to see my goat Ida get her Grand Champion and Best of Breed ribbons!  Had a REALLY GOOD DAY showing.

Here's my helper.

Here is the champion!

Daniella helped show two of the goats for me.  She did a very good job.  Hopefully next year we can go to more show together and she can show her own goats.

Around 2:00 my brother and his wife arrived at the show.  They were on their way home from a family gathering in Flint and stopped by.  They watched the afternoon show and got to see Daniella do the showing.

After all of my classes were done, Jenn and Daniella packed up and went home.  My big brother then took me out to dinner.  I had planned for them to stay at the potluck dinner, but it was postponed until Sunday.  When we got back to the show grounds the police had a road block set up right in front.  We had to explain to the officer that we needed to get into the show grounds.  There had been some sort of accident, I didn't find out what until much later that evening.  I heard it was a motorcycle crash and the driver was killed.  Plan to look in the Hasting's newpaper to see if there was any write up.

Before Dick and Mary left we had some of the Carrot Cake I had made for the potluck.  It was yummy!

I was in bed by around 10:00.

Sunday-Two rings today and it is only me!  They changed the order of the one ring to make things a little less hectic, so in ring "B" there was only one group and then mine.  The other ring I had a long wait.

Another good day.  Ring B was earlier in the day, so Ida's udder wasn't as full as it should have been, didn't place as well, but did get Reserve Champion.  Ring A was good, Ida was full and she took another Grand Champion and Best of Breed.  The others did pretty much the same as Saturday.  I only needed help in one class and there was a girl who stepped in and did that.  I just wish I could remember her name.  Thank you anyway to you and your grandmother.

Show was over, for me around 5:00.  Then pack everything up and head home.  Got here about 7:30 PM.  Unpacked the trailer, settled the girls, ate some leftovers, did milking and fell asleep in the chair watching TV.

Because it was Father's Day, Jenn and Pat came and cooked steaks on the grill for Greg.  They left before I got home.

Good weekend all around.  Let the next week begin....
