The Week of the Fourth!

Wanted a new routine so trying it out this week.  Up a bit after 6 AM and was walking by 6:30 AM.  Anya and I did two miles at a brisk pace.  Spent some time reading the "Weekly" on the porch, did up the dishes, and started some dough for cinnamon rolls.  Just got the recipe from a new friend/vendor at the market.  She sold them along with some of her other goodies.  They were wonderful!

And some to freeze.

Here they are ready for our snack.

I had also started some Cottage Cheese from the morning milk and that was finished up after I raked the hay we had cut yesterday.  By late afternoon the hay was ready to bale, super hot and windy day and it was only grass, so it didn't take any time to dry!  We got 20 bales, only a tiny field really.

Supper was tuna salad in pita bread, spinach from the garden, cottage cheese and yogurt.  Greg had a cinnamon roll for dessert then the four of us, Greg, Isabeau, Anya and I, took a two mile walk.  That makes four miles today for Anya and I!

Chores then porch time!

Monday-HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!  Another early morning walk and then time to catch up on the blog.  I was just about to head out to do chores, when some friends stopped by and they ended up staying until afternoon!  Chores were LATE, but we had a good visit.

Then another surprise...Jeremiah and the kids were on their way here to spend some of the day with us.  Jenn and Pat were also coming to celebrate the 4th!  Had a great time!  Played a game called "Cards against Humanity" haven't laughed that hard in a very long time!  Great party game, though it is adults only!

Everyone left before dark, so Greg and I watched the fireworks from the front porch.  Good show some where up to the north of us, lasted almost an hour!

Tuesday-Another two miles for Anya and I.  Made some appointments for the broilers and my yearly check up.  Did some farm record keeping and then sat on the porch.  Weather is just toooooo darned hot!

Greg started putting up some OSB in the backroom, I helped by holding a couple of sheets.  I ran into the elevator to pick up feeds, I was almost too late!  I was the very last order of the day.  Needed to go to the credit union, but they were already closed.

Too hot to cook so we had salads for supper.  Then did my TV time.

Wednesday-No walk this morning didn't get up until after 7AM, didn't  sleep good.  No knitting group today either, need to work on wedding clothes.  Ran the meals after chores, went to credit union and home.  Went right to work.  Finished shortening the slip, four layers worth!

Had lunch, put up another sheet of OSB and then went to the Swanson to do a little computer repair.  All is well now.

Back home, made dinner had our first green pepper, chores and watered the vegetable garden.  Porch sitting the rest of the time.

Thursday-I was in the barn by 7:05 AM getting chores done early so we could take Anya to the Vet to be nurtured and then we were off to go rummage saleing in Elsie.  It is the yearly city wide sale day!  Got a few things but not much.  We were done by noon, so we went to lunch at the Hitching Post in St. Johns.  Home and some down time, waiting for the Vet to call to pick up Anya.  Got the call around 4:00 PM, she's home and feeling a bit out of it, but doing fine.

Greg did some painting in the backroom and I spent sometime on the computer.

Dawn called around 5:00 PM to ask if they could borrow our truck.  They had bought hay at auction and were bringing it home when the brakes went out on their truck.  All is well, but they still have more hay to get home.

I have two batches of salt rising starter going, I hope to make 10 loaves of salt and 5 of sourdough for market this week.  By 1:00 AM the first pans of salt rising were done.

Friday-Things almost normal, up around 7:00 AM.  Anya feeling much more like herself.  More bread to make today, hope there are enough hours in the day to get it all baked and ready for tomorrow.

Started more sourdough, mowed lawn, Greg doing more painting, then set more bread to rise.

Both breads took forever to rise, I ended up baking the last salt rising at 5:00 AM on market morning!

Saturday-Bread in oven by 5:20 AM.  They need to cool before I bag them up!  Washed a few dishes, put a salad together for later at Daniella's Fiesta and then packed the truck, bagged bread and left for market.

Busy market today, 10 vendors.  Sold seven loaves of salt rising and three sourdough along with 10 dozen eggs.

Home, chores, clean up and then head to the party.  Big group, lots of kids, fun and food.  All my kids were there...mark that on the calendar!

Came home around 9:00 PM with house guests...my Brother and his wife.  We sat on the porch until bedtime.

Another week in the books!  Onward and Upwards.
