Long stretch again...

Been almost two weeks since last post.  Just can't keep up around  here.

Anya is doing well.  Both ears are up and she is growing like a weed.

Been walking for my exercise this week.  Four out of five days I walked outside, Tuesday I used daughter's treadmill while I was waiting at her place for the Fedex truck to deliver her new lap top.

Love walking outside  in the morning.  Gives me plenty of energy for the rest of the day and with the warmer weather it just  feels GREAT!

April 4th  we took the lamb in to be processed, picked the meat up yesterday.  Fresh lamb  YUM!

Had our first campfire of the season on the 9th, Anya enjoyed it.  Slept on quilt between us.  Was a good night.

On the 10th some folks from up near Mt. Pleasant came to look at my goats I have for sale.  They went home with three of the four.  Cha ching!$$$$

Yesterday, we took 18 dozen eggs to  the hay auction in Owosso to sell.  Got only $.60  each, but now we have room in the fridge.  Sure wish I could get some one on the road to start buying them, then I get $2.  Will be selling them at the Farmer's Market come the end of May as well.

Today it is cold outside and windy, so won't be doing any outside work.  Sure getting the itch to get things going.

The lettuce has sprouted in the hydroponic unit and is now getting nutrients and light.

I moved the cole crops out to the cold frame a few days ago.  They seem to be doing just fine.

I have plenty of sewing projects.  Daughter and Son both have embroidery jobs for me plus the neighbor girls wedding dresses.  Should be doing those things instead of playing on computer.

Tomorrow I will be traveling to the Flint area to be with one of my friends from high school.  Her Mother passed away on Monday and there will be a memorial service on Saturday.  I will be going to that.  Too bad our visit couldn't be for a better reason.

Lunch time is aproaching...Onward and Upward.

A blog for a drab, wet, and cold day in April.

Not a very nice day out.  Good day to stay inside.  So, I just put together some sourdough bread.  It is in the oven with the light on to get it warm and rise.  Figure there will be 5 or 6 loaves when all is said and done.  It is Whole Wheat, first time to try this as a sourdough.  Hope it comes out.

I took pictures in the greenhouse to show what has been going on there.  I have 10 full flats of starts which include one full flat of different tomatoes, full flat each of Marigolds and Zinnias, then the rest are full flats of assorted flowers and veggies like Broccolli, Cabbage, Brussel Sprouts, Onions, Peppers, Khol Rabe, Moss Rose, Pansy, Cypress Vine, and Texas Bluebells.

I am also doing a Hydroponic experiment.  I have a put together a water culture system.  It is really very simple to put together and didn't cost much as I had some of the pieces already.  I am hoping to grow my own lettuce and spinach in it over the winter months.  Just trying it out now, maybe I can have a fresh salad, before the lettuce in the garden.

Here is what my unit looks like.  There are four different types of lettuce, three pots each.  Germination times are about the same, buy harvest times are different.

Since everything was just planted, it isn't very impressive yet.  Give it a week and hopefully things will be growing and will look good and green!

On a completely different note, how about some pictures of our new puppy...

This is her and her littermates.  She is the light  colored one.  Picture taken by the breeder.

Anya, first day at her new home.

Her and Isabeau after a play session.

One ear is up and the other one is on it's way!
